Ersun Yanal met students of School of Physical Education and Sports (SPES) of Istanbul Gelisim University
During the interview Ersun Yanal said “Art, sport and culture are three elements which complete each other”. He also stated that without performing each of them perfectly, one cannot succeed in sports. Moreover, Yanal tried to explain the problems faced during football training in our country and how to solve them, by comparing the situation with countries which solved the very same problems.
Ersun Yanal who coached football teams of Turkish National Team A, Fenerbahçe and actually coaching Trabzonspor, participated to the interview held at the end of March by School of Physical Education and Sports (SPES) of Istanbul Gelisim University.
During the interview Ersun Yanal said ““Art, sport and culture are three elements which complete each other”. He also stated that without performing each of them perfectly, one cannot succeed in sports.
He continued, saying “We’re the country which allows the highest number of foreign players in its teams” and pointed out that foreign players number in Turkey reached a percentage of 73 and that there is almost no club which trains players in their infrastructure schools and allows them play in their A teams and said “we’re the country with least numbers of athletes trained in infrastructure schools”.
Only 1 out of 4 players of “Spor Toto Super League” players are trained in Turkey.
By presenting some data on the clubs and players number in Turkey; he emphasized;
“There are 3650 teams. We have too many professional teams. We are the country which has the most professional teams with 126 professional teams, 3527 amateur teams which makes a total of 3653 teams in total”. He also said that, however, there is no team for infrastructure players and 38 cities have even no U11 team.
Yanal continued saying “We have to start sport programs in schools. We’re at rank number six in earning incomes in Turkey through football” and “still, although Beşiktaş is in the best place for UEFA clubs listing, it is at rank number 23 and only 9 teams could get listed”
Finally he said “a player who is invited to join National Team A, shouldn’t be sent to play in a team with a lower rank, for example, players who have to play in U17, are playing in U19 and when a player did not fulfill his mission in the inferior group, must not be allowed to play in the superior group.
