Who is visually impaired?
People who have a significant loss of vision that cannot be treated due to some congenital or
postnatal reasons and who cannot continue their lives without support for this reason are defined as
'Visual Impaired'.
According to the definition made by the World Health Organization (WHO); Despite corrections after
medical and surgical treatments, if the vision is less than 0.3 or the visual field is narrower than 20
degrees in a well-seeing eye, it means low vision.
Individuals affected by vision loss or impairment carry out their social lives through other senses
other than vision, such as touch, hearing, and smell.
Causes of visual impairment?
Hereditary causes, the mother's febrile illness during pregnancy, exposure to radiation, chicken pox,
premature or late birth, the baby's oxygen deprivation as a result of the cord being wrapped around
the baby's head, the baby's febrile illnesses after birth, and traumas can be counted among the
causes.
We all share this life, and our most important duty is not to hinder them in the first place.
Then, we strive to make life easier for them, just like us, by increasing the number of areas we share
with them.
