On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of our Republic, this ceremony was organized to promote cooperation with institutions in the sector, using a stakeholder approach that values universal principles of sport, embodies the Olympic spirit, and prioritizes service to society.
The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Istanbul Provincial and District Directorates of Youth and Sports, local governments, federations, sports clubs, the private sector, athletes, and the press. Over 100 stakeholders from the Istanbul Gelişim University School of Physical Education and Sports were present, including academic staff and student volunteers. The event began with a presentation by Tekmil Sezen Göksu, followed by speeches by IGU Rector Prof. Dr Bahri Şahin and IGU BESYO Director Assoc. Dr Mehmet Soyal.
The panel entitled "Champion Women of the Republic" featured national wrestler Buse Tosun Çavuşoğlu and national volleyball player Neslihan Demir. Atakaş Hatayspor coach Volkan Demirel and NutSpor announcer Nebil Evren took part in the panel discussion entitled 'Those who make a difference in sport'. Neslihan Demir received the 'Volleyball Honour Award', Buse Tosun Çavuşoğlu received the 'Female Athlete of the Year Award' and Volkan Demirel received the 'Athlete of the Year Award'.

At the end of the panels, awards were presented to individuals who have added value to Turkish sport. President of the Turkish University Sports Federation, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Günay, President of the Turkish Athletics Federation, Fatih Çintimar, President of the Turkish Sports Federation of Special Athletes, Birol Aydın, former national athlete Merve Aydın, Director of Youth and Sports Services of Başakşehir Municipality, Selim Çelebi, Executive Board Member of the Turkish Jockey Club, Gülnur Gülerce, General Manager of the Turkish National Paralympic Committee, Secretary General İbrahim Gümüşdal and Olympic medallist, Prof. Dr. Malik Beyleroğlu, were awarded. Malik Beyleroğlu received the "Those Who Add Value to Turkish Sports" award.
During a panel discussion organised to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Republic, prominent figures including FIFA-licensed referee Halil Umut Meler discussed the recent incident in which MKE Ankaragücü president Faruk Koca punched Meler after the 1-1 draw between MKE Ankaragücü and Çaykur Rizespor. The violence was widely condemned. It is often said that sports should promote unity, friendship, and brotherhood and that these values should be passed on to future generations.
