Furkan Akar finished third at the European Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Poland, becoming the first Turkish athlete to win a medal in the history of the organization.
Speaking about Akar, who will be going to the USA with the dust on his feet, Burhan Kurtuluş, president of the Turkish Ice Skating Federation, told AA correspondent: "We expect a high level of performance from Furkan at the World University Winter Games. He will be competing against strong rivals, especially from the Far East. He will do a double take on his return to the USA". "We want to experience happiness. We wish success to our athletes participating in the organization," he said.
